You are EXTRAORDINARY!

YOU were made in the image of God! Wow. Let that sink in a moment.

Genesis 2:7 shows that man was formed of the dust of the ground and God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life causing man to become a living being.

Whenever I read this beautiful passage of our creation, I stand in complete awe and amazement of God, our Creator. The pure intimacy of this encounter shares beautiful insight into how valuable we are to God. So much so that He breathed His Spirit and His own life into us. In His image He created us (see Genesis 1:27).

This was done with intention and closeness. To form something is to shape and configure it. So, in all of God's artistic brilliance He crafted us! Fearfully and wonderfully He fashioned us (see Psalm 139:14).

Imagine a potter at the potter’s wheel. He doesn’t simply grab a lump of clay, toss it onto the wheel, and call it a finished product. Instead, he molds it, bends it, constructs it, and shapes it into the image he sees in his mind. Likewise, God didn’t simply grab a handful of dirt and call it human. On the contrary, God purposefully and intentionally molded us.

The astonishing part of this to me is that God didn’t stop at the stage of forming us. He then breathed into us! What a profound act of passion and love. When I envision someone breathing life into another, I think of the closeness required for that.

We are not only the flesh and blood that was formed on our bodies in our mother’s wombs. We are spirit beings, who have a soul and are housed within a flesh body. It wasn’t until God breathed His breath of life into our nostrils that we became living. Without the breath of God living inside of us, we are lifeless and void. This should give you hope in knowing how precious you are to our heavenly Father.

It’s important to know that your identity is found in Christ Jesus, not in a person, job, relationship, or anything else. When Jesus declared in Luke 10:19 that He had given us authority to trample on serpents, scorpions, and all evil spirits, I believe it’s because He understood that we were formed in the very image, breath & spirit of our Heavely Father.

So whatever you’re walking through in life as you read this, know that YOU are extraordinary!

Be encouraged by Ephesians 2:10, which declares, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”. What an incredible scripture. We are masterpieces of God, the greatest Creator there ever was or will be.
